Our exclusive client is a building products business based in Scandinavia with sales offices across Northern Europe.

The role of Chairman will require a highly capable and successful candidate who is an ex CEO with a manufacturing background and cross border experience.

The role will include:

- general Board duties including monthly meeting in the particular Scandinavian country
- more hands on guidance for CEO and CFO on a few specific projects coming up (it is anticipated that 4-5 days per month will be needed for the first few months with lower commitment after that):

- Review of operational efficiency in UK and overseas manufacturing plants
- Review of regional sales performance and group contribution
- Review of major capital expenditure project to enhance the manufacturing plant
- Preparation of business for refinancing of debt

There are some differing views on strategy within the Board (whether to exit in short term or whether to embark on major capex project) and the chairman will need to be able to marshall the different factions for the benefit of the business.
